Build a wind turbine for less than $ 200

Wind energy systems for residential DIY generating electricity are relatively easy to build with only a few components. If you live in a geographical area where abundant flow of constant wind comes, and if your property has a location that is not obstructed by buildings or trees where you can build a tower that is at least 10 feet high, then you are a good candidate for the construction of a wind turbine homemade. Here is a basic list of what you will need.

Generator - This is what converts wind energy into electricity. The easier and less expensive to find are used or recycled engines electric lawn mower, although other types of DC (direct current) motors that work well.

Blades - These capture wind energy and transfers it to the generator. You can buy blades manufactured in various sizes online websites specializing in green energy or Ebay. Alternatively, if you prefer to save money and do it yourself, you can cut from a piece of plastic tubing at your local hardware store.

Mounting - The motor and blades have to be attached to a mounting frame having an attached tail that helps stabilize in the wind. To view the mounting frame and tail, imagine an aircraft fuselage and tail. The blades and motor are in front facing the wind, the fuselage is aligned with the wind flow and keeps the fuselage and tail blades directly towards the wind for maximum wind exposure.

Torre - The wind turbine has to be elevated at least 10 feet off the ground in order to be exposed to constant wind flow. It can be mounted on a roof, provided that no chimneys, trees or other structures that obstruct from the wind flow. If the property is large enough, it can be mounted on a tower that is anchored firmly on the ground.

Charge controller - It monitors the storage batteries and divert excess electricity from them not charged.

Batteries - DC lead battery deep cycle are used to store electricity generated by its wind turbine.

Inverter - Your appliances run on alternating current (AC), so direct current (DC) that is stored in batteries for use lists must be converted into AC, and that's what makes the inverter. It is the final component of the wind turbine system before electricity produced is used in your home.
